Tooth ExtractionGood oral hygiene is a crucial building block for excellent overall health. At 525 Dental, our staff is here to help you on your road to a great smile. We are ready to answer any questions that you may have, and we want to assist you in achieving optimal oral health.

Oral Hygiene

Daily brushing and flossing are key steps in decreasing plaque to reduce your risk of dental decay and periodontal disease. Plaque is a clear bacterial film that sticks to your teeth and causes damage to your mouth. Brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing daily, and routine dental cleanings all work to clean the plaque from your teeth. We want to help you make the most of your daily dental habits by sharing advice on the proper technique.

Teeth Cleaning

Your routine dental cleanings help to thoroughly remove plaque several times a year, and they can help you to have a whiter smile and fresher breath. They can also help prevent gum disease and other dental issues. At 525 Dental, we recommend teeth cleanings every 6 to 9 months. However, we will work with you and your insurance plan to determine the best preventative dental plan for your family’s needs.

Periodontal Maintenance

Periodontal disease occurs when bacteria infects the gums, and there are several conditions that affect this. While plaque is the primary cause of gingival disease, things like smoking, diet, medications, and diabetes can affect it as well. Daily brushing and flossing are important to decrease the risk of gingival disease, and our staff can help reduce the progression of disease as well.

Dentistry for Kids

It’s important to start child off on the right foot with dental health. We recommend that you schedule your child’s first visit after their first tooth appears and their first cleaning around age two. This sets the foundation for good oral health, and Dr. Smith and his associates can make recommendations specific to your child. We may take x-rays during childhood to evaluate for dental decay and the position of permanent teeth. We may make suggestions regarding tooth-brushing technique, determine if your child needs a fluoride treatment, and suggest ways to decrease your little one’s risk of cavities.

Dental Resources

There are many specialties and medical terms within the field of dentistry. We have compiled a dental dictionary and definitions of dental specialists to equip you on your journey to excellent oral health. Sometimes your dental condition may benefit from the expertise of a specialist, and we will direct you to the right specialist when you need it.
